This summer I have a goal of reading 6 books. To some that may seem like a hefty goal but I’ve designed this goal with the intention of limiting my screen time in mind. Like many others, since Covid started, I’ve noticed that my screentime has gotten to a ridiculously high number and I can feel it having a negative effect on my mental health. I often find myself mindlessly scrolling on social media after work, for sometimes hours on end. To try to offset this bad habit I have created, I decided to make a conscious effort to put down my phone and limit my screen time to 1 hour a day. After that hour is up, I will go for a walk, talk with family/friends or pick up my book. Since starting this new habit, I have already read 3.5 books and it’s only been a little over a month. I am a huge believer in being mindful when it comes to your daily habits, figuring out what is effecting me mentally or physically and consciously putting in effort to change my daily habits for the better.
